Here is a II V I jazz lick played over an Amin7 D7 Gmaj7 chord progression.

http://rapidshare.com/files/336362967/final_jazz_01_pdf.pdf

You will need adobe reader to view the PDF and play the embedded media - you can get adobe reader here if you don't already have it - http://get.adobe.com/reader/?promoid=BUIGO.

On page 2 you will see the lick  - click on the green plectrum to hear it (accept the trusted media message that will pop-up). My intent of this lesson is that you view the Gmajor scale differently over each chord - Over the Amin7 chord the G scale is viewed as an A Dorian mode with emphasis on the 1 b3 5 b7 arpeggio notes A C E G etc. An approach is discussed over each chord with diagrams and embedded media so that you can hear the licks discussed.

Any media with a volume dial is played slowly and increases in tempo while you simply play along - click on the red square to stop. At the end of the lesson is a discussion on some ideas for you to create your own licks over this II V I within certain perameters - there is also some blank tab sheets for you to write your own licks out.

Enjoy practicing,

Jason Vearing.
