PURPLE CIRCLES (PRT1)

The clean section at the beginning of my song Purple Circles is a sort of chord melody that moves around between E minor and A minor, with a little phrase in E major part way through.
I used a Strat on the split neck/middle pickup position like you would for clean Hendrix stuff. On the recording there's a pitch-shifted guitar (up an octave) mixed in quite low just to make it a bit more interesting.
You need a whammy bar for that first chord- it's not meant to start on a particular pre-bent note, just lower than where it ends up when you release it.
The only awkward bit is the tapped chord with the hammered bass notes.
You have to hammer the F quite hard as it comes out too quiet otherwise.
It's meant to be expressive and airy so you can take whatever liberties you like with the phrasing.

This song is from my new album called Regent and you can download Purple Circles and the rest of the tracks from CD Baby at

Attached is a backing track to play along to so hope you enjoy the lesson and have fun
